Seidel Advertising Partners with Independent Book Store to Spread the Joy of Reading

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) December 19, 2007 -- Give a Kid Some Credit. That's what Seidel Advertising and Green Apple Books say. Green Apple Books, San Francisco's favorite bookstore for over 40 years, has partnered with local advertising agency Seidel Advertising and Chronicle Books to donate books to all third-grade students in the San Francisco Unified School District.

Seidel Advertising is based in San Francisco and specializes in retail advertising. While Seidel has worked with large chains, they prefer to work with small independent retailers who have a loyal following that is almost rabid. Seidel Advertising calls their system for these small retailers, "Proselytizing."

"We aim to provide smart effective advertising for small retailers that we believe in and have something original to offer, Green Apple is one of those unique retailers. We try to help them get their already devoted fans to not only spread the word, but bring others into the fray. In this case we are looking at a program that fits perfectly with this kind strategy," says Seidel Principle, Howard Seidel. Seidel Advertising has a deep-seated history with small retailers.

The program known as "Give a Kid Some Credit" gives each third-grade student a $10 credit toward a book (or two) at Green Apple. Seidel Advertising came up with the program for Green Apple who has been a pro-bono client since 2005. "We are trying to allow young readers to experience reading from a helpful, local business. Green Apple is the only bookseller of its kind in the city, and people deserve to experience this kind of bookstore" said Seidel, owner of Seidel Advertising.

The program is designed to give out age-appropriate reading material recommended by local school librarians and is aimed at peaking children's interest in reading and helping them become life-long readers.

San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, has endorsed the program and encouraged all third-graders to participate saying, "?take advantage of this wonderful opportunity from a generous neighborhood store."

Each third-grader will receive an informational brochure, (produced by Seidel Advertising) which contains several book suggestions, as well as a $10 credit, which is valid for three months at Green Apple Books.
