New Book on Coping with Emotional Pain Makes Its Debut

Longwood, FL (PRWEB) April 27, 2008 -- From Xulon Press author John Brownlee comes a book about how to deal with the emotional pain stemming from the emptiness in our hearts. The Hole in Your Heart ($13.99, paperback, 978-1-60477-522-8), the author's new release, explains how emotional hurt and pain comes from our emotional deficit of what has not been given to us rather than from what has been "done to" us. Additionally, the book outlines healthy ways to deal with the pain and bring about healing, and it provides a view of how to fill our hearts with what we need most: self-understanding and forgiveness.

Says Brownlee, "The overriding theme is that we all have some emotional pain from the emptiness in our heart. However, we have a choice as to how we will deal with the pain. Will we choose to be better or bitter victim or victorious?"

The concept of The Hole in Your Heart evolved from the author's own quest into discovering himself, as well as from more than thirty years as a therapist working with all types of people, ranging from violent inmates to abused children to "normal" individuals and couples who chose destructive ways to cope with their emotional pain. His scope of experience encompasses counseling in a private practice, churches, nonprofit organizations, and even a maximum-security prison. He says that, surprisingly, it was in overcoming their hurt and pain that these people found maturity and a wiser perspective on life, and he hopes his readers will be able to do similarly.

John Brownlee is an internationally recognized therapist who has counseled individuals and couples for more than 30 years. He has been a clinical member of The American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy for over thirty years. He is presently a board member for the Tennessee Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.
