ARS Tech Blog Uses Quirky News to Keep The Technical Mind Innovative
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) June 11, 2008 -- ARS Tech Blog Uses Quirky News To Keep The Technical Mind Innovative.
The Internet needs another blog like Barack Obama needs another debate with Hillary Clinton. But, according to Northeastern University Professor Walter Carl and John Cass at Backbone Media Inc, there does come a time and place when a blog merits its bandwidth. In such instances a company has "particular cultural traits" worth revealing.
This past week, ARS Technologies, a San Diego based peripherals and software development company, decided to expose some of the mind fodder that keeps their engineers' minds creative while dealing with the daily challenges of coding software and debugging hardware.
Directing the scope of ARS Technologies' blog is the company CEO, Paul Arssov. He starts most of his mornings at ARS Tech by reading a spectrum of news from sources around the world. From this trove of reading, Arssov always manages to find some obscure, yet inspiring story. For instance, this past week, Arssov opened company's day by telling the story of how in Mozambique, rats are now clearing mind fields almost seven times faster than humans.
While Arssov admits that most of these bizarre stories will never make the 10 o'clock news, he believes that the shock (or even silly) factor of these events encourages his employees to seek out "weird" news and share it with co-workers as a way to, "Distort the mind's normal thought processes."
Arssov does not want to create an atmosphere of endless laughing, but to infuse ARS Technologies' culture with a sense of "awe" about what is still possible in the world of technology. And in the views of business experts like Edward E. Lawler III, director of the Center for Effective Organizations and Distinguished Professor of Business at the University of Southern California, a company cannot sustain excellence in performance unless it embraces change and innovation.
ARS Technologies is using its blog a simple way to draw its employees to new modes of thinking and hopefully give them a reason to laugh during the day. To extend the laughter and inspiration to clients, ARS Technologies currently offers translations of the blog in nine languages.
About ARS Technologies, Inc. "We virtualize peripherals." Headquartered in San Diego, California, ARS Technologies' creates products that allow use of ISA, PCI, PCMCIA cards outside of computer systems. The company sells products in more than 50 countries worldwide.
